Visitor Protocols

Records held at Seneca Archives and Special Collections belong to the Seneca community. Treat them with care and respect so that others can enjoy them as you have done.

To ensure the continued accessibility and preservation of Seneca’s archival records, Seneca Archives and Special Collections asks that you adhere to the following rules.

  • Sign in each time you visit the Research Room.
  • Place all bags, purses, and coats on or below the coat hanger.
  • Food, drink, and other liquids are not permitted in the Research Room
  • Only pencils may be used to take notes. Records are not to be marked on, fodled, or otherwise defaced.
  • Archival records are maintained in original order. Do not re-arrange the records. Pelase open one box and remove one file at a time.
  • All records must be handled with care to ensure access to future users. Please wear the white gloves provided when handling photographs.
  • Staff will make all photocopies for researchers. Due to conservation and access restrictions, not all records can be photocopied. We recommend you bring in your own digital camera or use the Zeta scanner, which is offered at no charge.

The Research Room is monitored. We may ask to inspect your notebooks or any bags before that are removed from the Research Room or the building. If you haev any questions or require any assistance, plese speak to the Archivist. Failure to observe these guideliens could result in a suspension of research privileges.
