What asset management issues are common to a specific industry?

You may find it helpful to seek information on common asset-related challenges and solutions in your company's industry. This can be useful for better understanding the nature of the challenge and helping you to develop a custom solution. To do this, you can consult articles from trade publications and journals using the recommended databases listed below.

Trade Publications

Trade journals publish articles aimed at people working in a particular field, to help them stay up to date on current topics within the field. Some of these articles may relate to asset management, including common challenges faced across the industry, and how companies in the industry might approach these issues.

To find trade publication articles, search for keywords related to the industry, as well as keywords related to the asset management topic. Then, look for options to sort the results by relevance and filter the results to trade publications. Examples of keywords:

  • tech and data management
  • financial services and security
  • oil and asset lifestyle management
     

Journal Articles

Similarly, you can also explore journal articles to find researched approaches to asset management challenges written by academics and professionals. Use the same search strategies and keywords that you would use for trade publications, but filter your articles to "peer reviewed". 
 

Search Tips

  • Type each search criteria into a separate search box.
  • The asterisk (*) will match zero or more characters at the end of a word. Use this to search for words with different endings. For example: tech* will find results for tech, technology, technological, technician, etc.
  • Include synonyms or related terms using the OR operator. Type OR between words to find results containing either term.
  • To search for an exact phrase, surround the phrase with quotation marks: "exact phrase"

  • Look for a source type filter for 'Trade Publications', and consider also filtering by other criteria, like date range.
  • Sort the results by Relevance to bring results that are more related to the search terms to the top of the list.

Similar to company profiles, these reports include extensive data and analysis on an industry within a specific country. You can search for the industry your company operates within and find leading competitors and information on their assets.
