Asset Management Library Tutorial

Where else can I find information on a company's assets?

Company Websites

Large public companies may publish reports or information about their assets, which can be available through the company's website. It may also be useful to visit the website to understand how the company communicates with the public.

Start at the company website. Explore the website, looking for menu-links related to assets, financials, or information about the company. For companies with a retail presence, these links may appear in a menu at the bottom of the webpage. Stay critical of what the company views as important to communicate and what information may be missing or left out.

News Articles

News articles may also report on a company's assets. For example, if there is an event that may greatly affect the performance of a company or industry, there will likely be news articles that cover this kind of event.

Search in a news database, such as Canadian Newsstream, for the company or industry name + keywords related to asset management.

Industry Standards

An industry standard is a set of criteria for an industry that determines the proper function of operations. For asset management, there are industry standards to aid organizations and enterprises with implementing an asset management system and complying with relevant policies.

These standards (55000, 55001, 55002) can be found on the database Techstreet Enterprise (linked below).
