Logos, Trademarks & Licences

Warning sign

Logos, trademarks, and licensing fall under the umbrella of Intellectual Property. None are covered by any of the copyright exceptions. Permission is always required.

Logos & Trademarks

Trademarks and logos aren't covered by copyright law, they're actually covered by trademark law which doesn't make allowances for educational use. Therefore, if you want to use trademarks and logos, permission is required.

To get permission: You can contact the company directly or check their website under "Terms of Use" to see if conditions for using the logo are posted there (e.g., Google Brand Resources Terms and Conditions). If you need additional information or require help obtaining permission to use trademarks and logos, please contact the Copyright Team at theservicehub@senecapolytechnic.ca.

Licensing

There are various licences that allow usage of copyright protected works. Each licence is unique and must be reviewed to ensure that you are using the works according to the terms set out in the licence. If the use does not fall under the terms of use permitted in the licence then permission must be obtained.

If you have any questions regarding licensing of materials or would like help obtaining permission to use a logo or trademark, please contact us at theservicehub@senecapolytechnic.ca.
