In 2018, the Parliament of Canada proclaimed October as Latin American Heritage Month to honour the substantial contributions made by the Latin American community to Canadian society (Government of Canada). Similarly in Ontario, October is officially recognized as Hispanic Heritage Month and serves as an opportunity to remember, celebrate, and learn about the outstanding achievements and contributions of Hispanic people in the province (Government of Ontario).
