How is a specific company addressing sustainability?

Company Websites

Large public companies often publish ESG (environmental, social and governance) or Sustainability reports, along with annual reports and other filings. Some topics that may be covered in a company's ESG reports include:

  • Environmental impacts
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Sourcing & supply chain
  • Human rights
  • Governance

This information may be communicated as an annually published report, or it may appear on a company's website along with other information about the company.

To locate this information for a particular company, start at the company website. Explore the website, looking for menu-links related to sustainability, investor relations, or information about the company. For companies with a retail presence, these links may appear in a menu at the bottom of the webpage.

News Articles

News articles may also report on sustainability topics related to a specific company. For example, if there is an event that causes harm to the environment, news and magazine articles may cover the event and its impact. Or, if a company introduces a new sustainability initiative, newspapers may report on the initiative.

Search in a news database, such as Canadian Newsstream, for the company name + keywords related to sustainability.
