Original Videos You Created & Embedded in Your Assignment

If your video is publicly accessible online, such as on a website, social media, or blog:

  • Under the video, include a short description.
  • Add the full citation after the description. Follow the citation template for your source. For example, if you're citing your video that is posted on YouTube, use the template for citing YouTube videos.
  • If the video is not cited in the text of your assignment, you do not need to include it in your Works Cited list.

If your video is not publicly accessible:

  • Under the video, include a short description. For example, CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario.
  • There is no need to credit yourself as the creator of the video. Library recommendation: If you'd like to make it clear that you created the video, you may add a note after the description. For example, CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario, video by author.
  • You do not need to include a citation in your Works Cited list.

If you are embedding your original video in a digital assignment (e.g., presentation slide, infographic), see Seneca Libraries' recommendations.
