The Generative AI Library Package is a package of items that can be imported directly into Blackboard, including the Generative AI Guide, a four-part video tutorial, an AI customized search bar for Seneca Libraries, a Gen AI quiz, and links to Sandbox resources aimed to help students with digital media.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the Generative Artificial Intelligence tutorial, students should be able to:

  • Define Generative AI
  • Identify the challenges and opportunities of GenAI
  • Create basic prompts
  • Understand the acceptable uses of GenAI
  • Evaluate GenAI content
  • Understand how Academic Integrity affects the use of GenAI
  • Cite GenAI content in APA and MLA
  • Identify the best practices of GenAI and Copyright
  • Add to a research/citation session - if a library liaison is visiting your class to speak about research and citation, they can also speak to your students about generative AI. Just let us know if you allow your students to use Gen AI and then we can either explain why it’s not appropriate for your assessment, or, if you do allow it, we can discuss how to use it critically and effectively.
  • Standalone Gen AI session - if you would like your students to learn how to use Gen AI more effectively, you can request a 60-90 min session using our workshop booking form. Our Digital Literacies team will cover the what and why of Gen AI as well as the how of crafting prompts and critical evaluation. Don't hesitate to get in touch with the Digital Literacies Liaison, Michael Myers, with any questions.

Visit our APA or MLA citation guides to review the Seneca Libraries recommendations for citing AI-generated text or images in student assignments.
